Remote Architect

About the role

Fair Construction & Real Estate is a fast-growing design-and-build company delivering residential, commercial and mixed-use developments across Somaliland. It is looking for a full-time, hands-on architect to join the company and help build its standards and systems. The role starts remotely and leads to on-site work in Addis Ababa for a company in Somaliland.

Key responsibilities

• Create plans and drawings that clearly outline the architectural design of each project
• Use knowledge of engineering, mathematics, science and materials to deliver a finished product
• Conduct site evaluations to check quality and adherence to safety standards
• Oversee the construction process and make recommendations throughout
• Collaborate with teams to set goals, schedules and budgets
• Deliver design from concept through to full construction documentation
• Produce high-quality 3D interior and exterior renders for client presentations and approvals
• Prepare architectural drawing packages: floor plans, site plans, sections, elevations and details
• Prepare and coordinate MEP drawings for residential projects (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drainage)
• Develop and coordinate structural drawings with the structural engineer
• Prepare finishing schedules, material specifications and design details
• Support design and technical issues during construction

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in architecture
• 3+ years of experience in construction and architecture
• Wants a long-term career within one organisation and enjoys working independently and remotely
• Proven experience designing MEP designs; structural design experience is a major advantage
• Able to deliver buildable, construction-ready drawings and to manage several projects on time

Required skills

• AutoCAD: ability to draw clear diagrams
• Strong 3D visualisation (interior and exterior)
• Organisational, creative and presentation skills
