Procurement Assistant – Logistics

About the role

The Logistics Assistant coordinates daily procurement and logistics services to ensure programs receive needed goods and services efficiently and cost‑effectively. The role supports procurement, in‑kind goods management, customs clearance, transportation, and warehouse operations while collaborating with partners and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Senior Operations Officer in coordinating procurements and logistics activities, ensuring timely availability of goods and services for program implementation.
• Prepare and maintain procurement documentation, manage customs clearance, transportation, storage, and delivery in compliance with CRS policies and donor regulations.
• Provide technical support and coaching to implementing partners on warehouse management, inventory control, and reporting.
• Coordinate and monitor commodity receipt, inspection, transport, dispatch, distribution, and disposal with relevant stakeholders.

Required profile

• Fluency in English and Somali.
• Knowledge of Somali customs procedures, import/export regulations, and market dynamics.
• Minimum 2 years (Diploma) or 1 year (BA) of experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, or warehouse management.
• Ability to travel up to 30 % of the time within Somalia.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Familiarity with logistics or inventory management software (e.g., LMMS) is a plus.
