Operations Executive, Shipping and Logistics

About the role

The Operations Executive, Shipping and Logistics will manage daily shipping, logistics and operational activities to guarantee the timely and cost‑effective movement of goods. Based on‑site in Hargeisa, the role requires close coordination with suppliers, transporters, warehouses and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate bookings, documentation and cargo tracking with suppliers, carriers and warehouses.
• Prepare and verify shipping and customs documents, monitor shipment status and resolve any delays or discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records in logistics and ERP systems.
• Support operations planning, optimise routes and freight costs, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Prepare regular performance reports on logistics activities.
• Collaborate with finance on invoices and payments and respond to stakeholder queries.
• Identify and implement continuous process improvements within the operations function.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in shipping, logistics or commodity trading, preferably in an on‑site operational role.
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics or a related field (preferred).
• Strong analytical ability to assess data, optimise routes and support decision‑making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams, vendors and external partners.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
• Knowledge of international trade terms, shipping documentation and customs procedures is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using basic ERP or logistics management systems.
