Policy and Liaison Officer – AU Support Mission in Somalia

About the role

The African Union is seeking a Policy and Liaison Officer to support its Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). Reporting to the Head of Mission Support, the officer will facilitate policy coordination, stakeholder engagement, and information‑sharing across mission components, host authorities, and international partners.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain liaison and coordination with mission components, Somali host authorities, regional organisations and international partners.
• Support policy‑related reporting, briefing preparation, meeting records and analytical inputs.
• Assist in organising and following up on coordination platforms, consultations and stakeholder meetings.
• Contribute to effective communication mechanisms that underpin mission cooperation and operational coordination.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in political science, international relations, public administration or a related field.
• Experience working in complex, high‑risk environments, preferably in peace‑keeping or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and maintain confidentiality.
