Communications and Reporting Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Communications and Reporting Officer to lead media advocacy, knowledge generation and donor reporting for its programmes in Somalia. The role will design communication materials, engage with media outlets and ensure timely, high‑quality reporting to donors and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the DRC Somalia communications strategy, showcasing project interventions and lessons learned.
• Create visual content for social media, publications, events, infographics, dashboards and other communication tools.
• Engage national and local media through talk shows, reports, workshops and briefings to promote project objectives.
• Capture project activities, human‑interest stories and impact evidence for external dissemination.
• Produce and maintain donor reports, narrative updates and activity trackers in line with donor deadlines.
• Collaborate with MEAL and project teams to gather data, monitor milestones and ensure accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in Communications, Journalism, International Development or a related field.
• Proven experience in media relations, content creation and donor reporting within the humanitarian sector.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
