Emergency Food Security Analyst

About the role

The Emergency Food Security Analyst will lead food security assessments and design emergency food assistance programmes for populations affected by crises in Somalia. Based in Mogadishu, the role supports ActionAid’s emergency response efforts by providing data‑driven analysis to inform timely interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rapid and comprehensive food security assessments in crisis‑affected areas.
• Design, plan and monitor emergency food assistance programmes aligned with humanitarian standards.
• Track and analyse food security trends to inform strategic decisions.
• Coordinate with partner organisations, clusters and government agencies to ensure coherent response.
• Prepare analytical reports and briefing notes for senior management and donors.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nutrition, Food Security, Development Studies or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in food security analysis or humanitarian response.
• Strong knowledge of food security assessment methodologies and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
