Field Security Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Somalia is seeking a Field Security Assistant to provide administrative and operational support to the Fire Safety and Security Officers in Mogadishu. The role contributes to the implementation of the UN Security Plan and ensures compliance with fire safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general administrative support to Fire Safety and Security Officers.
• Assist with data consolidation and dissemination of security information for analysis.
• Prepare security‑related documents, including Security Plans, Area Security Risk Management reports, and regular updates.
• Draft correspondence and maintain records for training courses delivered to security and field personnel.
• Support the implementation of the Security Plan under the direction of senior security staff.
• Review logistics requirements for training courses, drills, and security exercises.
• Monitor the implementation of security policies and procedures.
• Organise and conduct security awareness activities, orientations for new staff, and briefings as required.
• Prepare security presentations for senior officers when needed.
• Conduct regular fire safety inspections and report any issues to the Fire Safety Officer.
• Test, clean, inspect and maintain fire and rescue equipment, recording findings.
• Respond to fire or rescue incidents under the direction of the Fire Safety Officer.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Chief Security Officer or Head of Unit.
