Mediation Skills Trainer for Female Youth in Mogadishu (Consultancy)

About the role

The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) seeks an experienced mediator to design and deliver a mediation skills training programme for female youth in Mogadishu, Somalia. This consultancy will support AFSC’s broader peacebuilding efforts by empowering young women with conflict‑resolution tools.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a culturally appropriate curriculum on mediation and dialogue for female participants.
• Facilitate interactive training workshops in Mogadishu.
• Monitor participant progress and provide feedback throughout the programme.
• Document outcomes, lessons learned, and produce a final report for AFSC.
• Coordinate with local partners and community leaders to ensure safe and effective delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mediation, conflict resolution, or peacebuilding.
• Experience working with youth, preferably female groups, in fragile contexts.
• Familiarity with the Somali cultural and security environment.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Somali or Arabic is an advantage.
• Relevant academic background (e.g., International Relations, Peace Studies, Social Work).
