Project Officer – Resilience (RESTORE Project)

About the role

The Resilience Project Officer will provide technical leadership and day‑to‑day implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Community‑Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM), Early Warning Systems (EWS), Anticipatory Action and flood preparedness activities under the RESTORE Project. Working closely with local communities, government counterparts and consortium partners, the officer will help build sustainable, evidence‑based resilience to recurrent floods and climate‑related shocks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of community resilience activities across target areas.
• Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of CBDRM committees.
• Support development and execution of Community Action and Adaptation Plans (CAAPs).
• Conduct participatory risk assessments, hazard mapping and resilience planning.
• Promote community ownership of resilience investments and strengthen links with local authorities.
• Assist formation and strengthening of Water User Associations and other governance structures.
• Coordinate DRR actions, identify flood hotspots, and monitor weak embankments and high‑risk infrastructure.
• Support community‑led flood mitigation measures such as embankment reinforcement and drainage improvement.
• Develop and periodically review flood contingency plans and organise preparedness drills.
• Disseminate impact‑based early warning information and monitor weather forecasts, river levels and trigger indicators.

Required profile

• Proven experience in disaster risk reduction, community‑based disaster management or related humanitarian programmes.
• Familiarity with flood preparedness, early warning systems and anticipatory action approaches.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including communities, local authorities and international partners.
• Strong coordination, facilitation and reporting skills in a humanitarian context.
