Peace Building Specialist – Anticipatory Action

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Peace Building Specialist to embed conflict‑sensitivity into its AHEAD anticipatory action programme. The role ensures that early warning, trigger validation and response packages are designed to avoid exacerbating local tensions while supporting proactive humanitarian assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integration of political‑economy and conflict analysis into sub‑national displacement trigger validation.
• Apply the DRC "Do No Harm" toolkit across the AHEAD programme cycle to assess risk of conflict escalation.
• Manage early‑warning components, validating AI‑driven forecasts with real‑time observations from peacebuilding and protection committees.
• Facilitate community dialogues and mediation linked to forecasted conflict shocks to de‑escalate tensions.
• Support capacity‑building with national authorities on conflict analysis and disaster risk management under the MoU with SoDMA.
• Provide technical guidance to embed peacebuilding and social‑cohesion principles into anticipatory action design.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in peacebuilding, conflict studies, political economy or related field.
• Extensive experience in conflict analysis and humanitarian anticipatory action.
• Proven ability to work with national authorities and local peace committees.
• Strong understanding of "Do No Harm" principles and early‑warning systems.
