Security Investigation & VIP Protection Officer – AU Mission Somalia

About the role

The Security Investigation and VIP Protection Officer supports the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) by conducting security investigations, providing close protection for designated officials, and ensuring the safety of mission personnel and facilities. The role operates in a complex, high‑risk environment and reports directly to the Principal Safety and Security Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Implement security investigations and gather intelligence on threats affecting mission operations.
• Provide VIP protection and coordinate protective security arrangements for mission officials, facilities, and staff.
• Monitor, report, and follow up on security incidents, threats, vulnerabilities, and operational concerns.
• Liaise with mission components, host‑government authorities, security partners, and other stakeholders on protective matters.
• Support security coordination, incident monitoring, and reporting processes.
• Contribute to awareness, preparedness, and operational security activities for mission personnel and assets.

Required profile

• Reports to the Principal Safety and Security Officer.
• No direct or indirect reports.
• Ability to operate effectively in a complex and high‑risk operational environment.
• Fixed‑term position (P2 grade) based in Mogadishu, Somalia.
