Security Officer (NOA) – Baidoa

About the role

The Security Officer will support the World Food Programme’s security and safety framework in Baidoa, contributing to contingency and continuity planning, access control, and compliance with Minimum Operational Security Standards for staff and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, standardisation and testing of emergency and continuity plans for WFP facilities in Somalia.
• Liaise with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and in‑country security management, attending security operations meetings and briefing staff on security matters.
• Provide operational support to country, area and field offices to achieve compliance with Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) and Minimum Operational Residential Security Standards (MORSS).
• Manage facilities access‑control measures and procedures to ensure the safety of staff, visitors and assets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security or safety roles, preferably within humanitarian or UN contexts.
• Familiarity with UN security protocols and the ability to work closely with UNDSS.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the capacity to prepare clear security briefings.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
